After a 13-year break, the National Ornithology Olympiad of the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds (BSPB) is back! The Olympiad aims to arouse interest in birds and nature in as many young people as possible. Students from 5th to 8th grade from all over the country can participate.
The first round will take place on April 16, 2022, from 10:00 to 18:00 within 75 minutes at a convenient time for participants on the Kyoso platform. Students need to register to 14 April 2022 at the following link: https://platform.kyoso.tech/hub. Participation in the Olympiad is free.
The competition will be held in two rounds. The first 20 students who showed the best result in the first round will be invited to participate in the second round. They will be informed personally by the organizers. There will be special prizes for the winners of the final round, supporting the interest in ornithology.
The Olympiad is held with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science and its regional structures in Bulgaria.
The National Olympiad in Ornithology is one of the most important educational activities of BSPB. Conducted in the period from 1999 to 2008 with the support of the Regional Structures of the Ministry of Education and Science and with the participation of over 10,000 students from all over the country. Our experience over the years shows that the outstanding students in the final rounds continue to develop their interests in the field of biology and conservation. Some of the winners of previous editions are already distinguished scientists and specialists in their field, with a number of significant successes in nature conservation, numerous scientific publications, and national and international recognitions and awards.
The Olympics are organized within the LIFE projects: “Pelican Way of LIFE“, “Egyptian Vulture New LIFE“, “LIFE for Eagle’s Habitats“, “Life for Falcons” LIFE20 NAT/BG/001162, “Life for Safe Flight“.
