Transmitters

We follow the movements and migration of three young Lesser Spotted Eagles – Kubrat, Tervel and Boyana. These are the first LSE equipped with GPS-GSM transmitters in Bulgaria. The tags were fitted on juvenile birds, before fledging in July 2020 in SPA “Sakar”, “Derventski vuzvhsenia” and “Western Strandzha”.

The tracking of the eagles via satellite transmitters will help to identify the threats and mortality causes for the birds during migration and will allow to broaden our knowledge about the species migration route, preferred stop over sites along the lengthy migration, its temporary habitats and other important aspects of the LSE life cycle.
