Join us on June 27th (Thursday) from 14:00 to 17:30 at the Krasno Selo Municipal Cultural Institute in Sofia to celebrate National Eagle Day. We will share fascinating facts about some of Bulgaria’s most iconic and rare eagles, including the Imperial Eagle, Lesser Spotted Eagle, Greater Spotted Eagle, White-tailed Eagle, Golden Eagle, Booted Eagle, and the Short-toed Snake Eagle.
For our young bird enthusiasts, we have prepared special games dedicated to eagles. You can also browse our stand featuring favorite badges, plush birds, children’s t-shirts, and other cause-related products.
The date is significant – June 27th was chosen as National Eagle Day during the “Life for the Eagles in Bulgaria” campaign, which the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds (BSPB) organized years ago to draw public attention to these majestic yet increasingly rare birds and the threats to their existence and habitats. This day serves as an annual reminder of the indispensable role of eagles in nature through informational campaigns and educational initiatives.
The event is organized in collaboration with the Krasno Selo Municipal Cultural Institute as part of the LIFE projects “LIFE for Eagle’s Habitats“, “Life Danube Free Sky” and the project “From Iron Curtain to Green Belt: Restoring Ecological Networks in Southeast Bulgaria” is financed under the Endangered Landscapes Programme (ELP).
