The installation of new information boards highlighting the achievements of the “LIFE for Eagle’s Habitats” project has begun. One of the first boards was placed in the Dobrostan Protected Area, in the lands of the village of Dobrostan, Asenovgrad Municipality, Plovdiv Region.

The boards are bilingual and aim to provide more information about the population of this endangered species. They contribute to the protection and sustainable management of its nesting and foraging habitats, as well as the creation of new ones. The project is implemented across twenty Special Protection Areas within the Natura 2000 network in Eastern Bulgaria, and new information boards will be installed in all of them.

This activity is carried out under the project “LIFE for Eagle’s Habitats” (LIFE18 NAT/BG/001051).

The conservation of the Lesser Spotted Eagle and its important habitats, which are part of the Natura 2000 network, heavily depends on local communities—those who live close to the protected areas. To foster a sense of pride in the places they belong to and to increase the area’s value and significance, the information boards are being placed in the most suitable locations within the protected zones where the project operates, forest experts explain.
