The health of people depends on the health of forests. It is forests that provide the necessary conditions for our lives – from clean air, clean water, clean food, medicine and space for recreation.
In celebration of International Day of Forests on 21 March and this year’s theme “Forests restoration: a path to recovery and well-being”, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations invites you to take a photo of the tree closest to your home that brings you joy and makes you feel good. This could be any tree that benefits in some way your well-being: it bears delicious fruit, or has bark or leaves that can be used in traditional medicine, or perhaps it is a tree you loved to climb as a child or one that just delights you with its beautiful leaves or flowers.
Send a photo to us, tell us why you chose this tree and you could win a tablet!
Deadline to enter.
Photos will be judged in three age categories, with the prize for each being a tablet:
- Children 6 to 14 years;
- Youth aged 15 to 24;
- Adults over 24 years.
To enter the competition, simply follow these three steps:
- Take a picture of your favorite tree closest to home;
- Fill out the online entry form and describe why you chose that particular tree;
- Be sure to post your photo on social media using the International Day of Forests hashtag: #IntlForestDay.
Winners will be announced on International Day of Forests – 21 March.
Participants under the age of 18 must have the consent of their parent or guardian. You can find the full competition rules and conditions here.
