Illegal firewood was seized by forest inspectors of the Regional Forest Directorate – Plovdiv. The violation was detected during the specialized action, conducted jointly with representatives of the Police Department – Trud. The target of the inspection were over 43 physical addresses and agricultural buildings in the villages of Dink and Graf Ignatievo, Maritsa municipality. The inspectors found illegalities related to the storage of unmarked firewood without a transportation ticket.

The forest inspectors have drawn up three indictments for administrative violations under the Forestry Act. The timber was detained and stored at the depot of the State Forest Directorate – Plovdiv.

Checks for illegal logging continue even more intensively in connection with the period of intensive supply of firewood and the beginning of the heating season. Forestry officials from the Executive Forestry Agency and the Regional Forest Directorates carry out daily controls on the sites where wood is harvested, the origin, quantity and legality of the wood transported, the means of transportation and the individuals to whom firewood is delivered.

All wood purchased must be marked with a forest control mark, production mark or municipal mark and be accompanied by a transportation ticket.
