More than 60 forestry officials from six Regional Forest Directorates – Veliko Tarnovo, Lovech, Ruse, Varna, Sliven, and Shumen – took part in a training session on forest area management and control.
The trainings were conducted between 22 and 24 July 2025 and are part of a series aimed at enhancing the competencies and effectiveness of inspections related to compliance with hunting and forestry legislation. The training was led by the Deputy Executive Director of the Executive Forest Agency (EFA), Eng. Rosen Raychev, alongside legal advisors and experts from the EFA.
A key focus of the discussions was the improvement of operational practices and the identification of preventive actions by all institutions and NGOs involved in the implementation of environmental and nature conservation legislation. One example highlighted was the joint inspections conducted by forestry authorities in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds (BSPB), and the Ministry of Environment and Water (MoEW), aimed at enforcing biodiversity protection and compliance with existing legislation.

Since the beginning of the year, a total of eight training sessions on forest area management and control have been held, involving more than 300 forest inspectors from the Regional Forest Directorates.
This regional training was organized in the framework of the project “LIFE for Eagle’s Habitats”, implemented under the EU’s LIFE Programme, which focuses on the conservation of the Lesser Spotted Eagle and its habitats in Bulgaria.
