More than 50 forest officials from the Regional Forest Directorates of Sofia, Blagoevgrad, and Kyustendil participated in a training session focused on forest area management and control, held at the “Georgi Avramov” Training and Experimental Forest Enterprise in the Yundola area.
The three-day workshop, conducted from April 28–30, 2025, is part of a series of training sessions aimed at enhancing the competence and effectiveness of Regional Forest Directorate teams in enforcing hunting and forestry legislation. The training was led by the Deputy Executive Director of the Executive Forest Agency (EFA), Eng. Rosen Raychev, alongside legal advisors and experts from the EFA.
During the workshop, participants reviewed and discussed current regulatory provisions, exchanged best practices, and outlined measures to improve control over forestry, hunting, and environmental legislation. The goal of these discussions was to optimize the work of inspection teams and improve cooperation between institutions involved in forest area oversight. Key aspects of conducting successful administrative and penal procedures were also addressed.
A key focus of the discussions was the identification of preventive measures to be undertaken by all relevant institutions and non-governmental organizations. As an example, the joint inspections conducted by forestry structures together with representatives from the Ministry of Interior, the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds (BSPB), and the Ministry of Environment and Water were highlighted. These collaborations aim to monitor biodiversity conservation and ensure compliance with current legislation.
The regional training on forest area management and control was organized as part of the project “ LIFE for Eagle’s Habitats”, under the EU’s LIFE Programme.
