On November 13–14, a regional training session focused on forest management and control took place at the “Petrohan” Training and Experimental Forestry in the village of Bărziya. The training, organized by the Executive Forest Agency (EFA), aimed to enhance competencies and improve the efficiency of inspections for compliance with forestry and hunting legislation. Participants included the director, deputy director, legal advisors, experts, and forest inspectors from the Berkovitsa Regional Forestry Directorate.
During the meeting, the EFA staff presented updates to relevant regulatory provisions, fostering discussions to exchange best practices and outline measures for improving compliance with forestry, hunting, and environmental legislation. The discussions aimed to optimize team operations and enhance inter-agency collaboration in forest territory monitoring. Key aspects of administrative penalty proceedings were also reviewed.
The discussions emphasized the implementation of EU Regulations 995 and 1115/2023. EFA Deputy Executive Director Eng. Rosen Raychev stressed the importance of preventive actions in collaboration with institutions and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). As an example, he highlighted joint inspections conducted by forestry structures alongside representatives of the Ministry of the Interior (MVR), the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds (BSPB), and the Ministry of Environment and Water (MOEW) to monitor biodiversity conservation and enforce legislation.
This regional training was organized as part of the project “LIFE for Eagle’s habitats”, focusing on the sustainable management and protection of forest areas.
