Two hundred and twenty children from “Dr. Petar Beron” kindergarten in Varna had a lot of fun learning interesting facts about the Lesser Spotted Eagle. They also found out why and how to protect forests, animals, birds and reptiles. Their educators came from “Shumensko Plateau” Nature Park, State Forest Enterprise – Varna, State Forest Enterprise – Shumen and Northeast State Company.
Each child received as a gift the booklet “Tales from the Nest”, which tells in an easy-to-understand way about the life of Lesser Spotted Eagles, their habitats and their natural enemies. During the lesson, divided into groups, the children played a game building a nest, then Mother Eagle and Daddy Eagle raised their chicks and in the autumn all of them flew to the warm countries.
The lesson about the eaglets and the book “Tales from the Nest” are part of the project “Conservation measures for the Lesser Spotted Eagle and its habitats in Bulgaria”, funded by the LIFE Programme of the European Union.
